This is one of my favorite pages from the B&A Artists Journal – a promotional zine they distributed to art directors to promote their artists. I love the use of negative space – and how the artwork cleverly mirrors the photograph. I also can’t help but mention that the photograph, taken by Mark Lund, is equally playful, and full of the kind of natural light photographers dreams are made of.
recently i’ve become obsessed with infusing fashion into my design work – particularly for my personal branding and porfolio page… so i’m loving these royal blues – bandanas, paisley print, leopards, knits, and pastel ombres. i’m excited to share what i’m working on -but for now – here are my sourcesss
i love this logo. the worn effect on the type – and then the clever word play with the number and how the 8 & 9 over hang just a tad. i want to work towards creating pieces this good – in that vein – i just found this uh-mazing new tutorial/interview/tips site called method & craft – so many great little tips – i learn something new there everyday – i just watched i video on how to get a similar weathered efferct in illustrator.
this graphic used by Barneys New York is so good! i think some of the best graphics are simple, maybe only 2 colors. for me, when there are only 2 colors, it makes me more aware of the details – the spacing, line weight, font, and alignment (among other things) in a way i would not appreciate otherwise. but i mean… really… that heart with the eyes is just amazing..
