Maje Paris – F/W 2011

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

While redesigning my portfolio site, I think I was subliminally influenced by Maje Paris’s Fall collection!
I love – love the classic french color palette and those coats with the skinny lapels.. it’s just what I want in a jacket this season!

via Maje’s Facebook – like them and see the rest of the collection – it was hard just picking six!

fashion and design

Thursday, August 18th, 2011

recently i’ve become obsessed with infusing fashion into my design work – particularly for my personal branding and porfolio page… so i’m loving these royal blues – bandanas, paisley print, leopards, knits, and pastel ombres.  i’m excited to share what i’m working on -but for now – here are my sourcesss

love this!  i’ve done this with leather straps – but this is much better!  i love how it brings attention to those amazing shoes.  just the perfect accessory done in the most surprising way!

i <3 CARVEN

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011

Carven you are exactly what i want to wear this spring.. like.. how did you get in my head and make everything i love?! girlish charm – with just enough edge to not look like you tried too hard. and what about those shoes with the enormo bows!? so pretty, and weird, and amazing! get in my closet now!! also – is everyone else getting a huge alexa chung reference here – the model even looks like her – not that i’m complaining at all – just sayin.
uhhhh where did i hear about carven — unclear – but i did see via newsletter that barney’s is hosting a few trunk shows for the label – of course – hats off to barneys for always having the best of the best.

oh sienna

Sunday, November 7th, 2010

overall, i actually really like this look. plus, i think it is an easy look for the everyday woman to re-create. you just need a little shrunken sweater or top or jacket or cardigan (really insert your shrunken top here) and then add a pair of slim, colored trousers. sienna’s effortlessly pulled back hair, help pull this look together. i don’t love the shoes that match the sweater that match the bag, however. if the shoes were black strappy somethings, and the bag had just a hint of dark color somewhere – it could have been ‘so good’ status.

These beaded pocket purses by JF & Son may be old news… but that doesn’t discount how much I love them. So fun, special, and definitely something I haven’t seen before. I really love how wacky the first bag in the first image is with the textural black and red sequin-esq thing going on, everything about the 2nd image… (which i think is the back of the third image), and in the forth image… do you think it is hand painted, or was is designed to look like that… either way it is genius and beautiful. I am actually planning a quilt in the color scheme of the second image, (my favorite color scheme of the moment) so that was inspiring and gets me excited to start working on that project!

i really appreciate that barneys puts effort designing their email newsletter. even though i can hardly afford to shop there, i’m always excited to open their emails and see what fun surprise is inside.

OH, Hello London – Christopher Kane

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

You know what is funny.. i bet this spring we will see editorial table settings and table pieces being sold in these neon floral laces and meshes. i mean.. it is nothing new… but this spring i think it will be big. it is just so amazing how fashion translates into so many different mediums.. i believe fashion really sets the tone for so many creative industries… Anyways.. we’ll have to wait and see about my prediction… but read it here… i’m calling it now. although i don’t love the head-to-toe looks of this collection (maybe i will when i look at it again in month or so) i think they are going to break into separates really well. i mean.. those plastic-y looking floral lace pieces are going to all over the editorial pages. see more from this christopher kane show at style.com

OH, Hello London – Charles Anastase

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

The thing i love about fashion, is never-fail, every season you get such a diverse mix of perspectives from designers about how women should dress. you can be one girl on monday, and then someone totally different on sunday. in this collection, i feel like these dresses are going to be all over the pages of my favorite magazine.. lula. so girly, sweet, and fanciful.. i could be an Anastase girl.. on tuesday maybe. see more at Charles Anastase at style.com

OH, Hello London – Antonio Berardi

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

i’ll admit, id never heard of Antonio Berardi until this season. i was browsing style.com (of course), looking for new designers, and fell in love.. the colors, the silhouettes, the wispy-ness. don’t you just love how he mixes the soft pink, rosette dresses with a light “army green” structured jacket.. i mean it’s obvious.. but not overboard.. just right i think. i can’t wait to see what he does next season..

OH, Hello London – Acne

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

the mix of textures and proportions are so right here. and the mostly neutral palette sprinkled with pops of red and navy (which is technically a neutral.. but not really when shown with all the neutrals here) keep things interesting and exciting look to look. yeeps… look two is amazing, right.. by far my favorite? thanks again style.com for all your amazing coverage

OK! Let’s do this fashion week thing – Proenza Schouler

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

always a favorite. the way they cut is so great.. modern, fashion-y, but not obvious… just wondering.. after looking at just the new york collections… do you think come spring you will be able to buy anything that is not sheer.. probably not.

OK! Let’s do this fashion week thing – Calvin Klein

Monday, September 20th, 2010

everything looks so fluid.. even when it is perfectly sculpted. this collection made me stop and pay attention to a brand that i worshiped as a kid… i pulled weeds for a week just so my mom would buy me a calvin klein pullover sweater. see more at style.com

you just feel cool, in the know maybe, when you wear karen walker… what else is there to say? it’s off beat, fun, and cool. plus i love how even just one piece can easily update everything else you already have in your closet for the new season. see the entire collection at style.com

OK! Let’s do this fashion week thing – Anna Sui

Monday, September 20th, 2010

Queen of bohemia — love Love LOVE Anna Sui. I was recently in this great vintage store, and they had a few pieces from her quintessential collections in the 90′s. And then I see this collection, so similar to the vintage pieces i was lusting after – i just loved it instantly. The way she mixes colors and prints is genius- and incredibly, she makes feathers, and tribal beads look like a summer staple, rather than a trend of the moment. My favorite part though, is seeing models with smiles on their faces.. it makes me smile and happy and reminds me why i love fashion!! see more at style.com

OK! Let’s do this fashion week thing – Phillip Lim

Monday, September 20th, 2010

if i could wear any designers’ clothes… all the time… forever… phillip lim would be a close contender for the top spot. everything he does looks polished and portrays the effortlessness every stylish person i know attempts to achieve when getting dressed. i love his neutral palette, and those sheer dot pants are so good.. albeit maybe tough to fit into the wardrobe rotation.
