Maje Paris – F/W 2011

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

While redesigning my portfolio site, I think I was subliminally influenced by Maje Paris’s Fall collection!
I love – love the classic french color palette and those coats with the skinny lapels.. it’s just what I want in a jacket this season!

via Maje’s Facebook – like them and see the rest of the collection – it was hard just picking six!

Beyonce as Audrey Hepburn

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

Another video – I know!! But I seriously cannot get enough of this Audrey Hepburn inspired video by Beyonce for her song Countdown. Seriously, the song is so catchy, the Funny Face references make me so happy, & Beyonce is adorable, but still ├╝ber sexy.

OH AND – did you see the stained glass in the studio scene?! – I don’t think it is real stained glass… I’m guessing it is either painted on -or- a clever, clever post production trick. Really it doesn’t matter what it is i.still.love.it!

that celine bag

Monday, June 27th, 2011

so remember like 5 seconds ago i was talking about that celine bag??
as promised – here is a more detailed ‘study’ of the bag via elin king and after drk oh and a few celine adverts for good measure.
isn’t this bag just beautiful!?
i love how organic and raw it looks – yet still incredibly chic and sophisticated.
one thing in particular i love is that i think the bag is unlined – like the vintage coach, and dooney and burke bags which are beautifully made – last forever – and still smell like leather – my favorite bag smell.
what do you think – are you convinced – do you love this bag??

It’s So Us: A Modern Variety Show

Sunday, June 19th, 2011

first – love the cinematography – and the music – it just sets the tone.. you know something special is ahead.
second – what a beautiful event – put on by you + me styling i love the color scheme – how all the furniture is is white – allowing all the beautiful food, drinks, art, and props shine. speaking of art – those water colors done by Erin Fagerland – so amazingly perfect – i don’t know if i would want my guests to take them home – i think i’d want to live happily ever after with them forever – but seriously, what a perfect gift. also – i love that another gift they gave their guests were black and white pencils – the perfect touch. Anyway
don’t take it from me – just see for yourself!!

modern vintage table setting

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

i love the lettering on the stationary here – and the peach plate with engraved details throughout… l.o.v.e. i found a bowl like these plates once at an antique store in wisconsin – i passed it up because at the time i was getting a few other little trinkets – but i still think about that bowl to this day. sighhhhh.

flowers and the getty

Thursday, April 7th, 2011

john and i visited the getty a while ago – and while i love me some art – i was mesmerized by the gardens. there is something about a flower in full bloom – a bloom so full it look like the petals may blow away in the wind – something i have yet to achieve in store bought stems. i especially love how these effortlessly perfect flowers look against the backdrop of the ultra modern getty – take me back to there.

this blue

Friday, April 1st, 2011

i saved this because of the color – but i also love the shape of the ‘crest’ and how they mix patterns. i mean – it’s basically just dots and lines all consistent in weight – i think that makes it even more interesting.

to Tennis. KK and I saw them play earlier this week. They were SO SO SO GOOD. Like, they were so good, all I want to do is tell everyone about them. Alaina’s voice is amazing live – and the way she hops around on stage is the most adorable – friendly – ‘I think we should be friends’ sort of thing. I just love how their music transports you to another place. Like whatever you are doing – if Tennis is on – watering the plants is that much more cool – the soundtrack to my mini-movie starring me, watering the plants. Their music just makes things better.

i <3 odile font

Monday, November 8th, 2010

this font is not new by any means – i believe it came out in 2006, but never-the-less it is still such a great font. i think they use this font a lot in Lula Magazine (my forever favorite magazine) and i also think i sew it a lot in foreign magazines, particularly dutch and scandinavian types. i want to use it everywhere. it is modern, feminine, edgy, decorative, pretty, you name it..
find the odile font – and a ton of other equally excellent fonts at village
